Learn to Warp Tunisian Entrelac with Mikey

Warped Tunisian Entrelac is the next level of doing entrelac stitches with a crochet or afghan hook.

Entrelac can be done in several ways. Let's discover some methods, give you some workshops, and also allow you to learn the newest method, Warped Entrelac.

Entrelac doesn't have to be square blocks; it can be rectangles intermixed uniformly with other sizes. It's completed from corner to corner, working from one corner to the opposite.

Some designers on Ravelry use this concept, where only one axis changes, either the row height or the number of loops. To really have fun with it, though, if both axes change, like in the picture of the video thumbnail below, you feel like you are creating magic. It will still be uniform, and the edges will be flat, but the blocks (boxes) between the edges with the colour strategy create a warped look.

Below are two examples of Entrelac. One is done as Entrelac in the Round and is square. The colours are cool with colour-changing yarn like Red Heart Bitty Stripes.

Below is Entrelac in rows. It's not hard, but the colour will stay uniform going across instead of up on an angle like warped Entrelac.

Completing Warped Entrelac is a more complicated design-wise. A colour strategy has to be planned ahead of time when creating a pattern. That's why workshops and patterns like Warped Entrelac are paid workshops/patterns to cover the cost of making them.

Even as experienced as I am, Mikey here behind the screen, it took testing trials and math to make it work to turn into a baby blanket size of 32" x 32" approximately.

With this concept, boredom is hard to achieve as the pattern really plays itself out. I'm curious to see it happen on the yarn directly in front of me.
