Does Mikey or The Crochet Crowd use AI to generate patterns?

The quick answer is no, but AI is used in some elements of the business itself. What you don't see is the hours of mental development it takes to generate a pattern. We do not use AI to generate patterns from scratch. See more about Mikey's development as a designer and his design process.

The Study of Series takes about 170 hours to develop one blanket pattern. Through testing and trials, the designs slowly appear on graph paper as handwritten crochet diagrams.

AI is not there for designing yet. Read the people's comments below the download before you purchase and/or download. You'll know instantly whether the design quality is there or if it's someone who doesn't know how to crochet and is trying to use AI to generate patterns without firsthand knowledge of what it takes to write one.

We use AI to clean up photos and add graphics, but we cannot use it for design. It's not, at this time, the solution for designing and providing the resources consumers expect. Essentially, this means our designs are AI-free for physical instructions, crochet diagrams, and schematics.
