The Crochet Crowd is rebranding crochet cruises to expand beyond cruising into land retreats/getaways/vacations. We have been stuck trying to pull off live event retreats when we reach beyond Canada and the United States. The Crochet Crowd Community Getaways are designed for creative and connective experiences.
Karen Ellis, my personal friend, has run over a hundred retreats in the crafting sector. She told me to take a risk for the Nova Scotia Crochet Adventures, and much to my surprise, we sold one tour bus pretty much instantly. The waiting list was so big that we opened a second tour, which filled in instantly.

While it's true you can stay home and crochet, travelling with like-minded people offers a sense of community and safety.
We ran the Nova Scotia Crochet Adventure in the summer of 2025, and much to my personal surprise, people loved it as much as a cruise ship. There are certain regions of the world we would love to travel to, but we were limited by our reach in terms of where we could get yarn, ship it, and affordably to the locations where we are.
We have teamed with a new travel agent, and the roadblocks we once faced are gone. Joanne O'Brien is someone from our past and present. She has been working behind the scenes in the crafting industry and knows what we do. She also hosts her crafting-based tours.
I'm known for being a non-conventional crochet host. We made an exception for Julie Anna, a child, in our events, as we had travelled with Onzelle a couple of times before, and she knew I was off the wall with humour and language choices.
Joanne has opened up pathways for us to travel to Europe, which includes the United Kingdom, Scotland, and Ireland. Initially, we were contacted to participate as hosts in one of their established events. Still, I know my own humour and the type of travellers we get, who tend to be enthusiastic and everyday guests. I do much better with everyday and open-minded individuals.
We have teamed up with Scheepjes Yarns for Europe to make our crochet events abroad a reality.
Some hosts take education extremely seriously, but I follow my own rules: Do what you love, and love what you do.
Due to my upbringing, I'm known for having a lot of innuendos. If you think I am bad, my family has more of me.
We are launching two events, starting in Italy in October 2026. Tickets for this cruise will go on sale in September 2025. We are in the process of finalizing the contracts and vendors. We cannot wait to share with you what's happening next.

Karen is currently in the quotation process for Prince Edward Island, Canada, for August 2026.
In September 2025, Mikey and Karen are going on an exploration tour to Scotland to determine what our Scotland Crochet Adventure could look like in 2026.
